TD Bank Live Events
TD has its own creative studio in-house. They called us for the parts of a live event that studio was not built to carry.
It started in 2018, running media servers on the awards show tour and building the content that played on them. The role kept widening. From 2021, Clever Edits became the consistent outside team across the awards shows, patent celebrations, internal broadcasts and the seasons that followed.
Green-screen shoots and the VFX that finished them. Virtual staging built to run as live backgrounds at Rock Lititz. Twenty-five hundred award nominees turned into motion graphics that had to be correct, on time, and readable wherever they landed - a 120-foot projection surface one year, a work laptop on a 720p video call the next. Media servers programmed and run. Same-day editorial on music videos shot against those backgrounds - cut and ready for the show.
It also went past the stage. TD commissioned featurettes with nothing to do with the WOW! Awards - a piece on their commitment to art and culture shot around Miami Art Week, the Patent Awards celebration, employee appreciation week films, a tree lighting run remotely through Covid. And conferences, a great many of them, for the bank’s employee resource groups: women’s, multicultural and LGBTQ+ networks among them.
None of it arrived as a separate order. It arrived as a season.
The last two years were the heaviest, and they look it.
We brought Unreal into the pipeline and the whole thing moved up a level. Real-time iteration is fast enough that you try things you would otherwise talk yourself out of when the show date does not move. Seven years in, the work got better, not more comfortable.
Seven years of running a full production calendar. Most of how we work now was settled here.
